Established in September 2010, Jade & Velvet is the brainchild of Susan Louw and Magda Malan, two entrepreneurs who met through their previous ventures and went on to realise their shared dream of building a thriving business that would create job opportunities and give back to the community it serves.

When their paths crossed Magda was manufacturing a line of children's wear and Susan stood at the helm of a lingerie and sleepwear range. They recognised a gap in the market for sophisticated, ladies' wear at reasonable prices and within four months of launching Choc'late Lace in November 2008 they moved out of their respective basements to pursue the business fulltime.
